ABOUT US
OUR STORY
Our story began in Amsterdam — a city whose motto speaks of valour, resolve and compassion (Heldhaftig, Vastberaden, Barmhartig), earned in the years our founder came of age. It was here, in the aftermath of war, that Maup Caransa built his first ventures trading army surplus and all manner of goods. He had an instinct for value where others saw none and built a reputation for it — a mindset that still guides us today. In 1950 he acquired his first building in Amsterdam, marking the beginning of a lifelong involvement in real estate. Over the years he moved beyond acquisition into active operation, developing and running hotels across the city. What started as a keen eye for opportunity grew into a lasting enterprise — and the foundation of everything we build today. Proud of what has been built, we now continue our own as Caransa Heritage Group — a family holding through which we invest across diverse sectors, with sustainability and digitalization as our guiding themes.
That instinct still runs through everything we do. It began in real estate, where MAUP holds and manages what generations have built. Today it extends beyond property, into companies and ventures shaped by sustainability and digitalization. Different fields, one mindset: the confidence to think in generations, even when we are the only ones to do so.

INVESTMENT STRATEGY
As CHG, we invest our own capital and answer only to ourselves. This shapes how we invest:
• Long-term – we think in generations, not quarters, and hold what we build.
• Committed – we invest where our experience, expertise, and network give us an edge.
• First movers – we commit on sectors shaped by sustainability and digitalization.
• Diversified – across real estate, operating companies, and venture capital, we balance stability with growth.

MAUP is the Dutch real estate arm of CHG, named after our founder whose eye for value started it all. Here we hold, manage, operate, and develop the property that remains the foundation of the enterprise – seventy-five years on.
In times of challenge, we keep building. Where others hold back, we invest. When data centers and laboratories were not yet obvious choices, we had already taken the way forward. We look not at what worked yesterday, but at what tomorrow will need — an approach that calls for vision, courage, and patience.
